September 9th 2009 - a special day for sustainability. On that day celebrates Holland the Day of Sustainability with several sustainable activities and promotional events all over the country. With the slogan 'What do you do on 9.9.9?', sustainability organisation Urgenda stimulates every person, company and organisation to speak up on this day and share their sustainability activities with the rest of Holland.

Do you want to share or get inspired by others? Please sign up via Dag van de Duurzaamheid. To name a few participants of Sustainability Day:

Young Leaders for Nature and Students for Tomorrow - they organise (in twenty Dutch cities) presentations about sustainability at several schools, colleges and universities.

Chamber of Commerce (KvK) - several offices of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce organise meetings for entrepreneurs about CSR.
And more- discount actions in shops, seminars, on the bike to school and work, and a lot more.

URGENDA wants to speed up the process of making Holland more sustainable, in collaboration with companies, governmental bodies and cultural and social organisations. Hundreds of initiatives already show that solutions and improvements are very well possible. Jan Rotmans (professor sustainability at Erasmus University in Rotterdam) is one of the initiators of Urgenda.
