The Urban Challenge is a contest for students in the Netherlands and South Africa, organized by Cordaid. You are challenged to solve a real life problem in a specific slum in South Africa. Fashion students can sign up for the project Fashion & Jewellery Design and win a 10-day trip to Cape Town!
The trip will take place in April 2009. In Cape Town you plan and start your solution/ideas, cooperating with one of Cordaid’s local partner organizations. The Urban Challenge will take place in February/March 2009. The Challenge is open to (3rd year) bachelor students from colleges/polytechnics (Dutch HBO’s) and universities, and to master students. All studies relating to urban issues qualify. The section Fashion & Jewellery Design focusses on fashion students. Urban Challenge gives you the opportunity to really help improve the lives of people in the slums of Cape Town. The Challenge runs for a maximum of eight weeks. The basic language for the project is English.
